Holiday Schedule
In the observance of the upcoming holidays, the County Library will maintain the following schedule: Friday, December 22--Open from 10:00 am-2:00 pm; Saturday, December 23--Closed; Monday, December 25--Closed; and Monday, January 1--Closed. For the schedules of our other locations, please contact these libraries directly.
New Year's Noon Party: County
We're ringing in the New Year at the County Library in Edinburg! Children are invited to join us as we count down to noon on Friday, December 29 at 11 AM. We will have refreshments, music, dancing, a craft station, and a balloon toss. This program will be the most fun for ages 3-7 but all children welcome.
Scavenger Hunt: County Library
The Shenandoah County Library in Edinburg is overrun with winter foxes! Anytime the library is open through the month of December you can try your best to find all the sneaky foxes. Solve their library riddle and win a prize!
Fort Valley Craft Program
Tis the season of giving! Join us at the Fort Valley Community Library on Wednesday, December 13 at 12:00 pm to make some special gifts for the birds. That's right! We'll be making Pine Cone Bird Feeders! All supplies will be provided, and some stories and song will be included. Happy Winter!
Teen/Tween Video Game Tournament
It's time to compete at the County Library! We'll be hosting another Mario Kart Video Game Tournament on Tuesday, December 12 at 4:30. Pizza will be served, and trophies and gift cards will be awarded to the finalists. Register in-person at the County Library or online by clicking here.
Trading Card Meetup: County
Fans of Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and more are invited to a trading card meetup to talk strategy, show off collections, play matches, and swap cards (with parent approval). This program is intended for kids ages 5-12 but open to anyone under the age of 18. The Next meetup will be on Tuesday, December 19 at 4:30 PM.
New Market Story Times
The New Market Area Library hosts two, monthly storytime programs for children. Books and Babies is held the first Wednesday of each month through May at 10 AM for ages birth to three. Preschool Storytime is held on the third Friday of each month through May at 10 AM for ages three to five.
For children's storytimes, if Shenandoah County Schools are closed, the storytime is cancelled. If schools are going late, storytime will be held.

Craft Night: Mt. Jackson
This is a drop-in program recommended for school-aged children. Contact the Mt. Jackson Community Library for more information.
LEGO Club: County Library
LEGO Club at the County Library is held on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 4:30 PM (starting August 24). As always, this program is free and all materials are provided. We recommend this program for brick builders ages 5+.
Mount Jackson Story Time
The Mount Jackson Community Library offers a story time program for preschool aged children on the second Wednesday of every month at 10:00 AM. Contact the Mt. Jackson Community Library for more information.
Lego Night: Mount Jackson
The Mount Jackson Community Library offers a LEGO Night on the first Thursday of each month from 6:30-7:30 pm. This program is suggested for school aged children and no registration is required. Contact the Mt. Jackson Community Library for more information.
Basye Book Buddies: Basye
Basye Book Buddies is for children and their caregivers at the Basye-Orkney Springs Library. Join us Wednesdays, starting June 7th from 10-11am to read books, sing songs and have fun at the library. Contact the Basye-Orkney Springs Community Library for more information.
Knit and Knatter: Strasburg
The Strasburg Community Library is pleased to announce that Knit & Knatter now will meet twice a month! Join us every first and third Thursday at 1:00 pm for a group work session of knitting and crocheting! Contact the library directly for more information.
All Booked Up: Strasburg
Join us at the Strasburg Community Library on the first Friday of each month at 1:00 pm for All Booked Up, a new kind of book discussion club. Join us for informal talks about 5-star and current reads. You'll leave with new reading buddies and "to-be-read" lists! This program will meet regularly on the first Friday of every month in the Quiet Room.
Strasburg Story Times
The Strasburg Community Library offers weekly story time programs year-round. Wednesdays at 10:00 AM the library hosts Baby Rhyme Time.
