Patron Status and Types

You will frequently encounter a BLOCKED STATUS on patrons’ accounts, which can happen for numerous reasons.  For example, if a patron’s account balance is $2.00 or more they cannot use the computers or check-out items. While these blocks can be overridden for checkouts, this privilage should not be used unless there are extenuating circumstances.  In other instances, a patron’s record may have been blocked by a staff member or Library Manager for the reason stated in the comment field. (Example – missing required information such as alternate ID or birth date.)  Comment field issues must be resolved prior to block removal.  Other patron status abbreviations are explained below.

Collections Agency (CA)

You cannot override collection status. A patron in CA status has no other option than to pay their fines in full.

All CA patrons have been instructed to go to the County Library to settle their accounts. Accounts in Collection status must be paid IN FULL before they can be released from that status and regain library privileges.

If a CA patron is in front of you at a branch library and wants to pay off their account in full, call the County Library for instructions.*

*The County Library has the ability to accept credit/debit card payments over the phone. For fines and fees over $2.00, you may call the County Library and have a staff member accept a payment over the phone.

NOTE: Although a patron has paid their entire account balance, the library software updates their status overnight. A patron will not have the CA restriction block removed from their account until the next day after payment.
