Comments Field

You may see messages written in the comments field on a patron’s account. These messages can tell you about current issues with a patron’s account, history, special statuses, or requests. For example, you may commonly see the message “Printout”. This comment simply means that the patron would like a printed receipt of item due dates.

These messages, which will be highlighted in yellow, may contain important information about the patron or their account. Examples include “Mr. Miller has permission to check out items on his wife’s card” or “Patron is hearing impaired”.

Some common abbreviations in comments may include:

  • FN mm/dd/yy– The patron has been sent a final notice for overdue items.
  • CCO mm/dd/yy-Courtesy check-out. The patron was allowed to use identification other than their library card to check out items. SCL has a 2-CCO limit before we ask that patrons replace their card. Similarly, we may see 2nd CCO mm/dd/yy.
